Great news! The plaque honouring the Manchester Corinthians will be unveiled in a few weeks time. To ensure we get as many former Corinthians and Nomads players there as possible can you please get in touch if you played for the team or if a close member of your family did?
We’re particularly looking for women who played for the Corinthians while they were based at Fog Lane Park.
Please use the comments area or email me at gary@GJFootballArchive.com with details of when you/they played and name at time of playing (if it’s changed). Thanks.
Hya Gary, my late mother Shirley Orange and her sister, my aunt Elaine Orange played for both the Corinthians and the Nomads in the mid to late 1950’s based on Fog Lane park, under the guidance of Perry Ashley. They were part of a touring squad who went to Portugal at that time, playing at various venues including the Jose Avalade stadium in front of around 20-000 people. My mum passed away recently in June aged 88, both her and her sister were huge City supporters and attended both FA Cup finals in 1955 and 1956. Were extremely proud of her involvement with ladies football around this time when it wasn’t very well received. She would have love to have attended this. I have 2 sisters and I feel we should attend this great occasion. I will keep my eye on this and hope we can attend. Many thanx Gary

Hya Margaret, nice you responded to my message. Sadly both my mum and auntie Elaine have both passed away now, Elaine a few years ago and mum only in June. She had been unwell since the beginning of the year, her health deteriorated towards the end. She would have loved an event like this. Nither of them had twin daughters, but they had twin sisters, Pauline and Margaret. Margaret passed away some years ago, Pauline is still here although not in great health. Hopefully we will be able to catch up at this event. Until then, hope your well. Kind regards. Wayne xx
