The 1940s: Peter Doherty Consternation

Back in September 1945 the news that Peter Doherty, a major hero to Manchester City fans (and even regarded as the greatest ever into the 60s and 70s by some fans), was greeted with some dissatisfaction amongst fans. So much so that this member of the armed forces based in Italy decided he’d write to the Manchester Evening News.
